Latest album: Tracey Thorn - Out Of The Woods

This album from Everything But The Girl's Tracey Thorn leaves me unmoved. She has a great voice but the melodies here are thin and the songs lack the passion that her singing can carry. Singing 'I get excited You get excited' in a tuneless monotone doesn't get me excited. Maybe this stuff works on the dance floor but I'm a long way from there. 5/10

Latest album: My Friend The Chocolate Cake - Home Improvements

I guess the worst thing about MFTCC is that their sound doesn't change much between albums. But that sound is great listening. Putting violin and cello into pop song arrangements works as well as it ever did and the instrumentals are cracking good. David Bridie's voice can be a bit samey but it works with the title song and the more upbeat tunes. 7.5/10
